Consigments and Collection sales!

We offer local consignments to our customers. We are not yet comfortable accepting consignments from outside of Texas, as Shipping, handling, inspecting the items and returning them when they don't sell is increasingly difficult with the current price of labor and travel outside of texas.

How to prepare a consingment request!

Make sure your entire collection is visible in one or two photos, then take photos of the major details on the items. Have some neutral lighting, light near a window or on a white tone or grey tone surface. Several photos should help us decide if we can run a consignment with you.
Email us at Kingshobbyatx.online@gmail.com talking about your collection and what expectations you might have. We can't promise your collection will match our regular customers, but we can definitely let you know. Some information we really appreciate up front: > The size of the collection, in number of items and the space it is normally stored in. > A rough estimate of the condition of the collection. List any damages, or let us know what photos contain strange conditions, such as multiple kits stored in one kitbox. > How old the collection is, and how it has been in storage.
With some deliberation you can expect to know what the market is like for your items, how easy, or hard a collection will be to sell. You can expect to hear about our consignment rates, which are usually discussed in person or over the phone.
If an item doesn't sell easily, it may take longer for us to find a buyer! Most of our consignments are discussed week to week. Some items are seasonal, such as trains, or cars and do better during different times of year. model trains are harder to sell than most of the products we keep in store, surprisingly.

Sealed vintage Hasegawa 1:32 scale model kits
These hard to find kits are great examples of easy sales in our store. The move easily but aren't always highly valuable. Special edition kits are great for the online sales.
Open box prewar scale model kits.
Resin kits and older plastic kits are surprisingly collectible. Even if the kit is sometimes a low quality product, they reprisent a large step in the model building hobby today! Some were never sealed, and many have had their cardboard boxes damaged by entropy. A reasonably clean kit from the 50s or 70s can be a really hot find!
